Oregon State University Foundation gets basket of coal from group seeking divestment in fossil fuel

A group that wants the Oregon State University Foundation to drop investments in the fossil fuel industry delivered a basket of coal Thursday to its office. It was tied with a red ribbon and the delivery was described as cordial.

The group OSU Divest says it won't stop pushing to end investments that it believes harm the environment.

The OSU Foundation is a nonprofit, separate from the university, that manages about $700 million in assets.

The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports 6 percent is invested in fossil fuel companies.

Last August the foundation rejected a request from students and faculty to divest.
