2014 taxes: Oregon's political contribution credit disappears for wealthy

For years, Oregon taxpayers could claim a credit (up to $100 for married filing jointly; $50 for singles) for donations made to political candidates, parties and political action committees.

From the 2014 tax year forward, though, the credit isn't available to singles with adjusted gross incomes over $100,000 or joint filers above $200,000, according to Perkins & Co., a Portland accounting firm.

In the 2012 tax year, 113,000 Oregonians took advantage of it, reducing their tax bill by an average $64, Oregon Department of Revenue statistics show.

Taxpayers can't make the contribution today for 2014. Donations of goods or services don't count.
