Medford Water Commission Manager resigns

Medford, Ore. – Larry Rains announced he’s resigning from his position as manager of the Medford Water Commission effective October 31st. Rains made the announcement after the regular board meeting Wednesday. Following his announcement, the water commission board put Rains on paid administrative leave effective immediately.

The reason or reasons for his resignation were not discussed, as it is a personnel matter.

On September 7th, the water commission board voted unanimously to suspend Rains’ ability to hire and fire employees. The decision came after spokesperson Sara Bristol was let go the previous week.

Rains recently underwent a performance review, his first in over two years. The review came after an NBC5 News investigation found lead pipes in Medford’s water system.
