It’s been more than three decades since a Republican has been governor of Oregon.

Candidate Knute Buehler is the Republican in November’s governor's race, going up against other major party candidates like incumbent Democrat Kate Brown and Independent Patrick Starnes.

Buehler sat down with KATU’s Steve Dunn for Sunday’s edition of Your Voice, Your Vote to discuss big items on the November ballot, such as Measure 105 - which would remove Oregon’s status as a sanctuary state.

“Look Steve, our immigration policy at the federal and state level is broken. There’s a lot of confusion. I think it’s important to add clarity to the confusion of the situation. No matter if 105 passes or fails, as governor I’ll add clarity,” said Buehler.

Buehler also discussed other big issues facing the state, including his plans for education, PERS, and where he stands on abortion.
