PORTLAND, Ore. —
One of the biggest political stories of 2022 was Democratic Congressman Kurt Schrader's defeat in the May primary.

It was the first time in decades that a sitting member of congress was voted out in Oregon during a primary election.
Schrader, a moderate Democrat, lost to a more progressive candidate, Jamie McLeod Skinner, who in turn lost in the general election to Republican Lori Chavez DeRemer.
As the year winds down, so does Schrader's time in congress. He spoke with KATU last week about his remaining days in the House, and shared his thoughts on how his stint as a U.S. Representative is coming to a close.
