We've been getting a lot of questions about Oregon Gov. Kate Brown’s executive order on restaurants.

There's some information going around that restaurants have been ordered to remain closed through September.

Some people have pointed to a document found on the secretary of state’s website that appears to indicate the governor’s order is in effect until Sept. 20, instead of the four weeks as it was originally announced.

We asked the governor's office for clarification.

It says that in Oregon, temporary rules may be effective for up to 180 days unless the governor says otherwise, and in this case she has.

For now, her order is only in place through April 14. It restricts restaurants to takeout and delivery.

“We understand the temporary rule language has been confusing to individuals in our community,” the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Justice Department wrote the governor’s office. “To prevent further confusion about the effective dates of the social distancing measures, the Oregon Health Authority is amending the temporary rules to provide clarification about the effective dates to readers. OHA hopes to have amended temporary rules adopted and available as soon as possible.”
