Due to COVD-19, Governor Kate Brown has shut down many state parks and trails this summer.   This is a photo of closed Thousand Acres Park which is a 1,400 acres open area park that is blocked off from all visitors.  We tried to visit in the middle of the day during a business day and found it closed.   This is one of Portland’s most popular dog parks.  Highways signs announced that the Columbia Gorge trails were closed.

To our knowledge, the scientific consensus is that the virus is not spread outdoors effectively.

Is closing off a 1,400 acre park in the middle of summer an effective way to fight COVID-19?
