Members of the Oregon National Guard are supporting security efforts in the both the country’s and the state’s capitols.

Major Heather Bashor said more than 30 of their Guard members are on the ground in Washington D.C. ahead of the Presidential Inauguration. Guard members are helping Military Police, public affairs and other support team efforts.

Bashor said trained personnel are also on standby in Salem to support the Oregon State Police should the need arise, just as they did during civil disturbances last year.

Bashor said, “Just like vaccine support, we are here to assist the people of Oregon”.
