The past year has seen its share of issues throughout Portland. From the coronavirus pandemic, to homelessness and extreme heat, the city has been working to adapt.

And one person who has been asked to weigh in on all of it is Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury.

Right now, the field of potential 2022 gubernatorial candidates is growing and could be crowded. So, is Kafoury considering a run?

Willamette Week recently sat down with her to talk about the problems plaguing Portland and asked her that question. Joining KATU News to talk about the issues is WW News Editor Aaron Mesh.

Mesh talks about what surprised him during the interview with Kafoury and if it seems like she'll be running for governor.

Kafoury has also been very vocal about where the city has failed with the homeless crisis -- Mesh talks about what she thinks needs to be done and how she explained the state of the homelessness given her current role in government.
