SALEM, Ore. — Incumbent Ron Wyden has won Oregon’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary.

The 73-year-old Wyden, who is seeking his fifth full term in the Senate, will be a heavy favorite in the liberal state in November.

ELECTION RESULTS

Wyden chairs the powerful Senate Finance Committee. He was previously a longtime U.S. House member from Oregon.

Wyden's office released the following statement:

"I'm honored that Democrats throughout Oregon honored me with this nomination. I'm proud today and every day to represent all Oregonians and work to generate jobs, battle corporate profiteers, provide quality health care, fight homelessness and make billionaires pay their fair share of taxes," Wyden said. "I'm looking forward to running hard through November on that proven record fighting for Oregonians' interests -- and against powerful special interests obsessed only with yanking our state and country backward."
