The U.S. Secretary of Energy is visiting elected officials in Oregon on Tuesday to discuss clean energy innovation across the state.

Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm arrived in Portland on Tuesday morning to speak with U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, as well as Oregon Governor Kate Brown, to tour several clean energy hubs in the state.

“The Secretary’s first visit to the Beaver State comes on the heels of the Senate passing the Inflation Reduction Act this weekend and will highlight the Biden Administration’s commitment to scientific advancements that will accelerate clean energy deployment and combat climate change,” Sec. Granholm’s office said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the secretary will visit Oregon State University"s Hinsdale Wave Research Lab in Corvallis. They are expected to discuss OSU'role in moving the country toward a clean energy future.

Granholm's office said the visit is intended to highlight the department’s efforts to create jobs in clean energy that advance the Biden Administration’s goal of a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.
