Dave Whitmer arrived at the Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center in February to take on the role of interim director. He was brought in as a “fixer,” tasked with turning around a VA that was struggling with problem managers, low staff morale and allegations of bullying and whistle-blower retaliation.

At the December 4th town hall in Brookings, Whitmer totally disrespected a Vietnam Veterans wife whose husband, 100 % service connected, receiving hospice care at home was being sent to collections for medical bills the VA was not paying. After reminding Whitmer she had previously spoke to him at the May town hall and Whitmer said "I don't remember, and introduced the next speaker and offered no help.
Also at the December 4th town hall Whitmer launched a verbal attack on one Veterans advocate after he spoke about a Vietnam Veteran who recently died in Roseburg from lung cancer due to agent orange. This advocate had previously addressed offering Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening for Roseburg VA Veterans as is being done by VA in Florida. Roseburg should be offering/providing this screening to Veterans. Veterans should contact Joel Corcoran at Senator Merkley's office and inform that they want this screening and that Roseburg has not offered this service to them. lung cancer is treatable in the early stages. Low dose CT lung cancer screening is "saving Veterans lives" in Florida. Oregon Veterans Lives Matter Mr. Whitmer!
As for attacking a veterans advocate for speaking out about problems at Roseburg that Whitmer is not addressing... lets just say the "Toxic Culture" still exists in Directors office. there are many more problems Whitmer has not addressed. he has apparently fixed the VA's PR problem!

The VA here hd 1 of the Lowest Ratings in the System. Trump Sent Head Hunters here to TRY & Fix a Completely Broken System They Changed the Rating from a 4 Star LOWEST to a 2 Star Almost Prefect in Less then 6 Months.? There was a CONCERTED EFFORT by the Drs here to RID Opioids as Pain Meds & Heres How they did it. ALL Controlled Meds in the VA System have to be RENEWED MONTHLY y Your Dr. You Call in & They Decide.? Now the VETERAN has NO CONTACT with Drs. Just a Call. Now Heres the TRICK They USED HERE. YOU call In at End of the Month. ONLY To Find Out THEY HAVE CHANGED Your Dr.? Why.? Many Many Excuses but NOW YOU Have to Go to Another Appt See a NEW DR & Convince Them that the Other Drs You have had for 20 + YEARS in This System where RIGHT.? And YOU DESERVE & NEED Said Meds. Now Do this to a VETERAN 2 3 4 Months in a Row & Also Tell them BS That the VA Is NEVER Gonna Prescribe Opioids again Ever.?..lmfao. THEY SYSTEMATICALLY REDUCED MY MEDS WITH CONSTANTLY CHANGING YOUR Dr. & The Patient Advocate NEVER 1 Time EVER Answered Any Phone Calls Sent Or was EVEN Present ON SITE at ANYTIME I Was there. I LIVE 5 Minutes from the VA HOSPITAL.. So ME Getting there sitting to see IF He Even Works Isnt & Wasn't hard to see NONEXISIENT.

there are still huge problems at the VA
